Relocation Services in Cyprus

Residence, tax, company and home, arranged in the right order

Moving to Cyprus takes more than a flight and a rental contract. You will need the right residence permit, a clear tax position, a bank account, often a company, and a place to live. These steps depend on each other, and doing them in the wrong order costs time and money.

K.P.S. Services Ltd has advised international clients from its Nicosia office since 2000. We plan your relocation with you, prepare what can be prepared before you arrive, and stay with you until you are settled. You deal with one contact person from start to finish.

Why people relocate to Cyprus

  • An EU member state since 2004, with a legal system based on English common law
  • English is widely spoken in business and in daily life
  • Corporate tax of 15% and a network of more than 65 double tax treaties
  • Non-dom status: no Special Defence Contribution on dividends and interest for up to 17 years
  • Tax residency is possible after 60 days in Cyprus in a year, if the conditions of the 60-day rule are met
  • A 50% income tax exemption on employment income above €55,000 a year for qualifying new residents
  • A Mediterranean climate and a relaxed pace of life

Our relocation services

Residence permits and immigration

The right permit depends on your nationality, your income and what you plan to do in Cyprus. We assess your case, prepare the application file and follow it up with the Civil Registry and Migration Department. Where a lawyer is needed, we work with Cyprus-qualified legal partners. We handle:

  • Registration of EU citizens and their family members
  • The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa for non-EU remote workers
  • Temporary residence permits for non-EU nationals living on income from abroad
  • Permanent residency by investment
  • Residence and work permits for employees of companies of foreign interests
  • Family reunification

Tax residency and non-dom status

A residence permit does not make you a Cyprus tax resident. Tax residency depends on the days you spend in Cyprus and, under the 60-day rule, on your home and business ties here. We check whether you qualify, register you with the Tax Department and apply for non-dom status, so the tax benefits start from the right date. See our tax residency and non-dom guide for the details.

Setting up or moving your business

Many clients relocate together with their business. We incorporate your Cyprus company, provide the registered office, company secretary and, where needed, directors, and help you build real substance in Cyprus. We also handle accounting and VAT, tax compliance and statutory audits, and can move an existing foreign company to Cyprus.

Bank accounts

Opening an account in Cyprus takes careful preparation, because banks apply strict know-your-client checks. We prepare the documents with you and support the personal and corporate account opening from start to finish.

Home and office

Through trusted real estate partners, we help you find a home or office to rent or buy that suits your needs and budget. Shortlists and viewings can be arranged before you arrive. For companies that need a presence in Cyprus quickly, we also offer office and virtual office services in central Nicosia.

Settling in

Once you arrive, we help with the practical steps: Tax Identification Code, Social Insurance and General Healthcare System (GeSY) registration, health insurance, utilities, and introductions to schools for your children.

Residence routes at a glance

The main routes for people moving to Cyprus in 2026 are summarised below. Every case is different, so treat this as a starting point.

EU citizen registration

Who it suits
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens staying longer than three months

Main conditions
Registration with the Civil Registry and Migration Department; full right to work

Digital Nomad Visa

Who it suits
Non-EU remote workers with employers or clients outside Cyprus

Main conditions
Net income of at least €3,500 a month; one year, renewable for up to three years in total; no work for Cyprus employers or clients

Temporary residence (visitor)

Who it suits
Non-EU nationals living on income from abroad

Main conditions
Stable income from abroad and accommodation in Cyprus; renewed every year; no local employment

Company of foreign interests

Who it suits
Non-EU staff of foreign-owned companies based in Cyprus

Main conditions
Gross salary of at least €2,500 a month; contract of at least two years; relevant degree or two years of experience

Permanent residency by investment

Who it suits
Non-EU investors and their families

Main conditions
Investment of at least €300,000 (plus VAT where applicable) and secured income from abroad of at least €50,000 a year

Citizenship

Citizenship is a separate step. The Cyprus Investment Programme closed in November 2020, so a Cypriot passport now requires naturalisation. The ordinary route needs about eight years of legal residence in total and Greek at B1 level. Highly skilled employees of companies of foreign interests can apply after five years with Greek at A2, or after four years with Greek at B1.

Relocating a business to Cyprus

Companies that want to bring non-EU staff to Cyprus can register with the Business Facilitation Unit as companies of foreign interests. Registration opens a faster permit process for key staff, without a labour market test. The main conditions are:

  • More than 50% of the shares held by non-EU nationals, or foreign participation of at least €200,000
  • An investment of at least €200,000 in Cyprus, either deposited with a Cyprus bank or spent on the business, such as an office or equipment
  • Real offices and business activity in Cyprus
  • A commitment that Cypriot or EU citizens will make up at least 30% of staff within five years

We prepare the registration file, set up the company, payroll and tax registrations, and coordinate the permits for your staff and their families.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Cyprus residence permit make me a tax resident?

No. Immigration status and tax residency are separate. You become a Cyprus tax resident by spending more than 183 days in Cyprus in a year, or by meeting the conditions of the 60-day rule.

What are the conditions of the 60-day rule?

In the same tax year, you must spend at least 60 days in Cyprus, not spend more than 183 days in any other single country, own or rent a permanent home in Cyprus, and carry on a business, work or hold a directorship in a Cyprus tax resident company. Since 2026, you no longer need to show that you are not tax resident elsewhere.

Can I work for a Cyprus company on a Digital Nomad Visa?

No. The visa is for remote work for employers or clients based outside Cyprus. To work for a Cyprus company, you need a different permit.

Can I buy Cyprus citizenship?

No. The Cyprus Investment Programme closed in November 2020. Investors can obtain permanent residency and later apply for citizenship by naturalisation once they meet the residence and language requirements.

Can I travel across the Schengen Area with a Cyprus residence permit?

Not yet. Cyprus is an EU member but has not yet joined the Schengen Area. Its accession is pending a decision by the EU Council.

How long does relocation take?

It depends on the route. Some permits are issued within weeks, others take several months. Preparing documents and opening a bank account before you arrive saves the most time.
